About Obesity

What is the definition of obesity?

It means having too much body fat which occurs over time when you eat more calories than you use. The excessive amount of body weight includes muscle, bone, fat and water.

What causes obesity?

Obesity occurs when a person consumes more calories than he or she burns. For many people this boils down to eating too much and exercising too little. When this happens, the energy balance is tipped toward weight gain and obesity. But there are many other factors that play a role in obesity.

    It is my firm belief that once you have all the facts and knowledge about obesity, you may be able to work towards weight loss.

    We must take obesity seriously. It increases the risk of many diseases and health conditions, which will be discussed as well.My personal obesity problem is caused by menopause. This topic will be discussed and I will share my story with you.

    Have you ever heard of a pregnant woman who was so fat she could not deliver naturally because her fat prevented the normal dissention of the baby down the birth canal? Well it’s true and is called “fat dystocia”. A c-section was the only way out for the baby. It’s true.

    Obesity affects our lives in a multitude of ways. We’ll be discussing them.
