Weight Loss Prescription Drugs

Weight Loss Prescription Drugs

Many individuals who have been struggling with their weight for the majority of their lives at one time or another consider using weight loss prescription drugs. There may be some reasons, however, why you might want to reconsider this possible decision.

Some of them have to do with the fact that many of these prescription drugs are harmful to the people who are taking them, along with the fact that it is often easy to lose weight once you recognize the truth behind the matter.

There are several different prescription drugs that are available on the market. Not every doctor is going to prescribe them for you, however, and there may be some reasons why you would be a candidate over somebody else.

First of all, these drugs are not intended to be used by somebody who is just looking for a way to lose a few easy pounds. That can be accomplished by using the diet and exercise routine that I explain later on in this article.

Secondly, you may not be a candidate if your body mass index (BMI) is below a certain level.

Two of the main reasons why a doctor would prescribe one of these prescription drugs is because you have tried several different methods of losing weight without any success and if you're BMI is greater than 30. You may also be a candidate if your obesity is causing additional health problems for you, such as hypertension, sleep apnea or diabetes.

Some of the most common weight loss prescription drugs include Sibutramine and Orlistat. Each of these are very effective at helping you to lose weight but they are a little bit expensive. For a 30 day supply, you can expect to spend anywhere from around $110 up to $400 for these prescriptions. Not only that, they carry side effects that you may not want to go through, such as headaches, constipation, insomnia and abdominal pain.

Instead of going through a program of prescription drugs, you might want to consider trying this simple diet and exercise regime that has helped many people to lose weight. Yes, it is going to take some perseverance on your part in order to see it through to fruition but the results will be worth any effort that you have to put into it.

As far as the diet is concerned, you can really eat anything that you want but you need to make sure that you eat healthy foods along with it and that the amount of calories you are eating per day is lower than the amount you are burning.

For exercise, you can do interval training or weight training in order to build muscle in the body. Since each pound of muscle will burn an additional 60 calories per day without any additional effort, it is easy to see how adding a little bit of muscle to your body can help you to lose weight effortlessly.
