If our body does not use up the calories that we take into it, it is stored as fat. Of course, there are always going to be some opinions as far as the type of calories that you can eat but as a general guideline, eating fewer calories than you need on a daily basis will help you to lose weight.

Another tip that goes right along with that is exercising. Most of us do not like to exercise but it does not necessarily need to be something that is boring or takes a lot of time. As a matter of fact, you can get the same benefits and perhaps even more by doing short bouts of exercise throughout the day instead of exercising all at one time.

Do you have 10 minutes to go for a walk on your lunch break? That's 10 minutes worth of exercise. If you can add a routine of strength training into your morning for a few minutes, that can also help you in a number of different ways.

Another one of the tips for losing weight that is often stated but just as often ignored is you need to drink water. Do yourself and your body a favor, skip the diet sodas and the sport drinks that you might think are healthy for you.

If you truly want to get healthy and lose weight, you need to drink water, and lots of it. A general guideline is that you should be drinking half of your body weight in ounces of water every day.

These three tips for losing weight are really enough for anybody to achieve their goals. Of course, it always helps if you recruit a friend or are part of a group that has the same goals. By being determined to watch your calories, exercise daily and drinking plenty of water, you will soon realize your dream of losing weight.
